Software engineers been real quiet since Devin AI dropped

It's basically an AI software engineer that can solve GitHub issues end-to-end.

My prediction about AI agents being capable of doing most white-collar jobs by 2025 is on track.

Maybe, but, if most workers are unemployed, they cannot consume what the AI is producing for the ruling class. End of capitalism? You wish! They'll just be dragged back to work, as supervisors, or reviewers, etc, get paid less than what they made before, and the cycle starts again, this time with trillionares!

Why would they be dragged back if profits for these oligarchs would be higher without them?

We've already seen stimulus checks being provided in US and EU to "stimulate" the economy. I think the same would happen after total automation too ie. we'll be provided measly monthly UBI or stimulus checks with little to no upward economic mobility.

That's the thing, the profits will stagnate and fall after a point, it's a thing in capitalism, which is why they need to keep the upward mobility dream (aka "middle class") alive, and hence bring back some workers either by creating more bulls*it jobs, or "inventing" new ones.

We are way far before AI replaces any workers.
As a rule of thumb, if management talks much about something, it's practically useless.
Other than the company CeO and spokesperson nobody is talking about AI. So, it's probably not much use for now.
If a defence project comes up on this or companies start offering third party services, thats the turning point. We are nowhere close to any of that now

@Qwerty2398 I usually respect your knowledgable opinions but you seem to have gotten your head in the sand on this one.

Workers are already being replaced by AI and a ton of layoffs have also happened in anticipation of soon-to-be-improved AI quality leading to a higher degree of automation.

CEOS are known for the "bandwagon effect". So the layoffs are happening because everybody is doing it. Remember when everybody was talking about web3? Or using block chain on lot of things? No Ceo talks about block chain today. AI is the flavor of the day.
This will also fizzle out when these CEO's find the next toy. err.... topic.
