Stoa vent

So recently stoa announced that they’re revamping their business. And for some reason everyone (other startup founders/ twitter folks) were supporting them and telling them not to get discouraged and to keep building and other shit.

I’ve interacted with a few stoa students and they have nothing good to say about stoa. Apparently they were promised placements which no one got.

Most of the people I know who did the stoa program, did it because they were sold the idea of getting a good consulting / founders office kinda job. The fees aren’t cheap for anyone coming from a middle class background.

What pisses me off is why are we as a society encouraging such founders - like they sold something without being able to deliver which had a direct impact on the life of students.

In my personal humble opinion these people need to be called out.

There are few more which are doing the same. One bullshit is growth school. Spamming everyone with ads.

Let's just hope those who suffered do remember and not fall in to the trap of such snake oil salesmen in the future.

All it did was make the co-founders more eligible for top-tier credit cards, gave them the balls to (probably) jump on the AI bandwagon, and do a run-of-the-mill Tanmay Bhat agency/Cred type ad featuring Ashneer Grover.
