Stressed out of my manager

Hi everyone,

I have been working in this company as a junior software developer for more than 8 months. This is my second company, and I had a probation period after joining this one. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with my manager because he was a fan of micromanagement. He didn't like anything I did and said that I was worthless, didn't know anything, and was stupid. He didn't have any trust in me, and I faced this day-to-day in office life. As a result, I lost my confidence, developed anxiety and depression, and even thought about suicide about a month ago. I am currently going to a therapist every week for my depression and anxiety.

I worked really hard and even worked overtime and some weekends during my probation period. However, after 6 months, during my review, my manager said that I didn't work on anything and extended my probation to 3 months. I started my career 2 years ago, and I wonder if this is normal in IT career.

I am looking for a job change right now, but I always get the question from most of the HR "why do you move too early?" and I don't know how to answer this question.

Please help, guys.

Your job at a company is a small dot in career.
Dont take it this hard on urself. Shit happens.
Change the job and join some investment bank sort of company or a company which is a bit relaxed. I changed 3 jobs in an year in the begininng of my very first year of my career. This time get a good one and stay put for 2-3 years. You should know if ur able to get the assigned job done. If you're not able to, dont think too much. Do some other work instead of ur current profile. it aint that hard.

First of all, don't let your confidence die. In your career , you will always be reporting to some manager. So instead of fighting it, you need to learn to deal with it ( like fake laughs when manager cracks a joke). You can quit this company and join another one. But still there are 50% chances that you will get another manager like this. So jumping won't work. You need to learn to adjust with him. It may seem harsh advice, but I learned it the hard way too. It's better to learn now than later.

You can try discussion with HR of the organisation you are with currently. Also when you go for a switch tell them any reason, i am sure there are lot of organisations which ahave urgent requirements and they need just a good resource and not any reason for why a frequent jumper.
