Hey everyone,
I could really use some advice. Right now, I’m working in finance operations, but honestly, it’s not exciting at all. I only took this job because there weren’t many good options during my college placements. A year in, I know this isn’t where I want to be.
I have an MBA in Finance and am currently preparing for CFA Level 2. I’ve spent the past year in a finance operations role, but I don’t have much direct exposure to valuation work. Still, I know that’s the direction I want to move in, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get there.
The big question: How do I transition into valuations from here? Should I start by looking at boutique investment banks or valuation roles at consulting firms? Or is there another path that makes more sense?
Also, any tips on networking, skill-building, or just how to break into this field would be super helpful. Appreciate any insights from those who’ve been through something similar!
Thanks in advance!
