Last year the tax slab was increased in the new regime although it would only benefit few sections of people.

My friend this was done to make new regime at par with old else literally not a single person was using it. It isn't extra relief, it's them making one regime at par with the other.
This government is excellent at first increasing tax burden then dropping it by 20-30% and saying lo and behold, we have reduced tax!
Stopped hoping for anything after 2016... Untill there is uncertainty around election results, salaried class will get nothing. There is no incentive to capture this vite bank. Bjp is going to win hands down, so why pamper someone who is anyway going to vote for them?
