TCS experience letter

I am planning to resign, and I have already started looking for other opportunities. I just want to be clear about what all things would be mentioned in the experience letter. Do they mention the exact joining date and last working date, or is it just the month and year? Also, do they mention anything about the job responsibilities in your position?

Upon your resignation from the existing role, the experience letter is bound to mention the important details, such as:

  • Exact Dates:

TCS precisely mention the date of joining and the date of resignation in the experience letter. This helps in maintaining a record of the time span of one’s work with the organization clearly.

  • Job Responsibilities:

The experience letter summarizes two things; the duties assigned to you and the positions you occupied during the period of employment. This provides clarity to the subsequent employers regarding the experiences you have gained as well as the competencies that you have acquired.

  • Designation and Department:

Your formal title along with the department that you have been operational in will also be mentioned. This can help one understand how you fit in the organization.

  • Company Letterhead:

The corporate official letterhead shall be used for the composition of the document and it shall contain the signature of a designated individual, commonly an HR person.

For your experience letter, it is better to consult the HR department for additional or particular aspects that could be covered. This would help in knowing what to look forward to.

An experience letter or a work experience certificate typically highlights the employee’s skills, performance and overall experience in the company. When an employee is about to switch to a new company or is leaving the present company, his/her employer writes an experience letter. TCS experience letter is one of the most essential documents which you need to acquire when you’ve resigned from the company. Usually, when an employee serves a given notice period, the employer provides the experience letter mentioning their date of joining the company and the last working day in the organisation. However, remember that the experience letter is not the proof document that you’re leaving a company. If you are to join another company and provide end of tenures from your old company a relieving letter is what the HR department would ask for.

When I decided to resign from TCS after five years, I had one concern: the details in my experience letter. Having already started my job hunt, I was curious about what my new employers would see. I also wanted to know if the letter included my specific job responsibilities or just a generic description of my role.

I recently resigned from TCS and received my experience letter. To clarify, they do mention the exact joining and last working dates, not just the month and year. The TCS experience letter also included a brief overview of my role and responsibilities but wasn't overly detailed. If you're applying elsewhere, it's a good idea to have your own version of your job description ready, just in case. Overall, the letter is formal and straightforward, with nothing unexpected.

I was both excited and nervous as I sat at my TCS desk and thought about my decision to resign. I realised I had to understand the impact of my experience letter after improving my CV and submitting my applications for jobs. Would it give my future employers the information they needed to know? I was particularly curious about the information provided, such as the exact time where I worked and the job description.

Last month, I quit from TCS, and when I got my experience letter, I felt happy. They gave me my exact joining and completing working dates, which is required for applying for new jobs. However, instead of providing a detailed explanation of my job duties, the TCS experience letter only provided an overall summary. I found the letter to be more professional, but if you are looking for specific job duties, think about expressing your own duties during the interview. All in all, it did a great job fulfilling its goal!
