What is the Tech Team Hierarchy Structure in your organisation? From SDE-1 to CTO? Curious about the structure of Unicorns (CRED, Zomato, Swiggy, Urban Company, Viacom18).
Swiggy has two tracks - IC and Manager. Up to SDE3, the journey is same.
SDE1 SDE2 SDE3
All managers are expected to be really good with tech and at par with the corresponding IC level.
After this comes super senior IC roles (Distinguished Engineer, Fellow etc) and VP roles (AVP, VP and SVP).
The above level reports directly to the CTO.

How frequent are the promos?
Responsibilities and expectations are defined in a Levelling Guideline. Swiggy is more or less same as Amazon in these processes and values.
Promotions happen every 6 months in appraisal cycle and heavily relies on the competencies defined in Levelling Guidelines, peer feedbacks and impact created. For SDE4/EM, promotions can happen anytime.

They report directly to the CEO. We don't have a CTO mostly due to freedom of choice for individual teams and decentralisation of decisions. CEO did act as CTO in the early days though.
CTO --> SVP --> VP --> AVP --> Principal engineer or Engineering manager --> Lead Engineer --> SSE --> SE
