Story time for a hopeless romantic -
In Tahitian myth, Once upon a time, Sun and the Moon fell in love and travelled the world together painting the sky with their radiant hues. That is, until the Moon betrayed the Sun and slept with the Morning Star.
Heartbroken, the Sun decreed they must part ways.
Since then, as punishment, the Moon and the Sun could never meet; the moon had to travel by night, and the sun by day but there has to be a way for the former lovers to meet!
Heartbroken and filled with regret, the Moon realized her mistake. She longed to see the Sun again, to feel his warmth and bask in his light. Every night, Moon would visit the places where Sun had been, and would always find that he had just left. Determined, the Moon continued her tireless pursuit, following the path the Sun had taken. She watched as he painted the sky in hues of gold and amber at dawn, and then slipped away as she rose. The moon continued to follow the sun, always coming nearer to him. The cosmos, moved by her devotion, allowed them brief reunion - the eclipse. Eclipse is the only brief moment when the sun covers the moon or vice-versa, and they can kiss for just a brief moment, until they are forced to part ways again. Yet, those fleeting moments of reunion were enough to sustain their love, a reminder of what they once had and a promise of what could be again.
Forever bound by these celestial kisses, the Sun and the Moon continued their eternal chase, separated by day and night but united in their love.
