Google wanted Android adoption back in the day, so they did this with Twitter, Foursquare and other apps. Making a lot of the early social apps look very similar.
What a piece of history.
Android development was even more complicated and harder than it is now when it launched. Internal google teams helped build a lot of 3rd party apps!
