Tips for surviving in Bengaluru.

Guys, I'll be joining Goldman Sachs at Helios business park in banglore, and it's "literally" my first time visiting there. Can you all who have stayed at Banglore give me survival tips? PS: From the news I hear about techie's abuse by the locals, I have even started wondering to learn kannada 😭😭

Stay in a better area even if it's a bit farther from the office.
Buy a car. Or initially buy a second hand activa. This will save you a lot of time and hassle.

Don't worry about what you read on social media. Don't be disrespectful but Don't be a softy either. Use Anna / boss instead of bhaiya. Don't assume folks know hindi.
People are being scared like this is some Somalia shit. No bro this is still your country.
Banglore is most populated city with most educated population in india. You will be fine.

Thanks Anna 😁.
Btw I just checked that we have yulu there around Helios Park, could that be enough, if I take accomodation within 3-4 kms?

Don't be stingy with this dude. In developing country you need to cushion yourself by spending money. The peace of mind and safety you will get with an old car is far better than everything else. Get a activa atleast, Yulu is for adventure sports.

It’s not that bad. Sure you might come across some incidents here and there. But it’s a nice city. Welcoming folks. Trying to learn their language might be an added advantage. They sure do appreciate efforts. Water quality is not great. Be ready to experience ego threatening hair fall.
All in all, I find it good. Been here for 7.5 years now.
And of course, the cliche, mausam sahi me achcha h yahan ka.

Honestly people just blow things out of proportion and consider living in Bangalore hard/tough to survive. Just stick to one tip ie “dont see bangalore though a negative lens. Look at your move with a positive outlook and trust me you’ll enjoy it.”

Locals are very warm even if you speak in Hindi. Most do initiate convos in Hindi but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to learn Kannada.

From day 1 if you think Bangalore is bad it will for sure be bad to you.

Also don’t compromise on your accommodation even if it means stretching your budget a bit for a house that is well ventilated, conveniently located, is a good location in short gives you a warm and welcoming vibe.

And do get your own 2 wheeler. You save ton of money and time and the freedom of going anywhere anytime is worth it

Get a bike or second hand car. Don't rely on autos.
