Travel Hacks

I was thinking of travelling abroad for vacation in December. Any tips/hacks for a first time traveller? Like should I get the air tickets done now, or closer to December. What would be cheaper? Travel package or booking myself? Any place is fair game, South East Asia or Europe, what would you suggest?

December is generally travel heavy month so would recommend booking tickets now. It's winter in Europe so Northern lights and skiing in Switzerland would be fun. Check flights on Kiwi. I've always done all bookings myself, works out to be cheaper

SE asia is fair game, weather would be amazing.

I travelled to Thailand last April, it was v good weather and crowd. Take enough cash and a 0 forex card. I took Niyo and Fi- Niyo bombed, Fi was highly reliable.

Would booking flights now makes sense. I'm not sure about international flight fares but the domestic fares are now cheaper closer to the travel date at times? Or just the hotels/resorts
