Weird recruiter experiences
I'll go first. I got a call for an APM role from one of the companies which did sound pretty sketchy and the recruiter was started bullying me into answering questions, when I asked to know more about the role. The recruiter was extremely unprofessional, and obviously the conversation was nowhere great. They however, did go ahead and sent me the JD and other links, etc to fill in and apply for the job. Mind you, I hadn't applied for the job. 🥲 It just was a pretty sour conversation which had left me in an uncertain situation. Any similar experiences?
Years ago, before WhiteHat was acquired, I got a call from their HR for a PM role.
They asked my current CTC. I was okay at this point. Then the lady asked the CTC of my ex-company (one before MBA). I told her I don’t want to disclose that and it was irrelevant for her. She said it is required, I refused again. Then she asked my JEE rank. At this point I had made up my mind. We ended the conversation and I declined the role.
Wtf jee rank for pm role
This is what inspired the Bangalore's landlord to ask for 12th marks for a house on rent.
One YC backed startup run by 24-25 year old folks asked me to join them as an ML engineer, took my interview, rolled out the offer letter. Just after rolling out the offer letter they asked me “which college bro”, I belonged to tier 3 college. Instantly I get “sorry this offer was for tier 1 college peeps only and we’ll be rolling out another offer letter with revised pay based on my college” Simply had to say fuck off, these guys would have asked me to sit on the floor and drink water from some other tap.
This is just downright ridiculous
That startup is deemed to be doomed if they went through the whole interview process without reading your college name mentioned in your resume
Asked for my expected CTC. I answered and they weren't happy with it. Said they could only give at 40% increment of current CTC and then asked for my current CTC. After hearing my current CTC they said I shouldn't be earning this much and that I was obviously making it up. Then asked to send over my salary payslip which I refused. Basically the HR started being extremely rude at this point stating that I was being unprofessional. I asked their salary budget for the role which they refused to answer. Then I asked if they were willing to hire me for a lower CTC which she instantly agreed and said she knew I was reasonable and I shouldn't have lied about my CTC. I then said good luck finding a candidate for that amount and hung up.
A HR once tried to tell me that I shouldn’t look for more offers when I already have one, i told him to mind his own business and not teach others how to lift their own career. And hung up.
Later I collected 4 offers till i got a 100% hike.
A recruiter from Licious called. Explained the role. Explained what Licious does. Asked if I was a non vegetarian. I said no.
She said they don’t want to take it ahead as I wouldn’t understand their business.
