What are you buying for yourself this Diwali? What are you buying for your loved ones? 🪔

Viners, looking to hear from everyone what you’re planning to buy for yourself and your family this Diwali.

Might end up being a good way to source ideas for gifts I can give to people who matter in my life

Despite my best intentions to not consume random stuff (including some of Grapevine) I was consistently clocking upwards of 2.5 hours of screen time on my phone (I'm still on WFH). I had installed Kindle and Google Play Books apps and was looking to channel that energy into reading more, buy on my phone distractions kept pulling me (even though I consider myself to be more disciplined than most people i know) . So planned to buy a Kindle. The one I liked (with warm light filter) was fairing around 15k. Looked around and got an iPad 9th Gen (64GB, WiFi only) instead. . I've configured it to be like a Kindle only. Greyscale screen, matte finish screen guard. And only reading, and learning apps like Medium, Adobe Reader, Kindle etc. . Been averaging upwards of 1.5 hours of reading since past 1 month. . I got mine from Flipkart during BB days sale for 24.3k after discounts. But Jio Mart is currently selling it for lesser (I think it'll be little over 22k after discounts)

Brought a refrigerator, replaced a 30 year old one we have been using since my parents married. My mom broke down when service people were taking away our old fridge 🥹

Can feel this.

So around 15 years back mom bought a single door fridge, she kept it booked for around 6 months before confirming the company to send the fridge. 2 year back, we upgraded the fridge to a double door almirah designed fridge at 12x of what our earkier one was. When the installation guys came for taking old one away, we all took a photographs with the old one and mom was bit sad but was very joyous with the new one. These small happiness in big things is what makes us realise how struggles are converted into success. ❤️

Thinking of buying the updated AirPods, but confused if I should wait till the next gen

I have the Airpods Pro from 2020, they've lasted me 3 years. But wondering if an upgrade rn is worth it

I also own them. Unless you're facing issues (degraded battery or sound) I'd recommend waiting for 3rd Gen AirPods Pro instead (2024 fall). From what I hear those will offer significant upgrades over current ones (Google or)

Clothes upgrade. I saw old photos and it hit me that I’m wearing the same shirts since 2019. They don’t look as good as they use to :p

For myself I'm buying nothing, really have nothing I really want to buy at this stage. Smaller things that help with my fitness and productivity goals (app subscriptions, books, etc.)

For family - Lol, I guess I should start thinking

My parents absolutely love music, but realized our TV speakers just don’t cut it

Planning to buy some good speakers (mostly Marshall Action 3) for them.

If someone has other suggestions would be lovely

Was planning to buy a apple watch. Would have costed me arnd 17.5k, but still questioning is it worth it.

I mainly wear an analogue watch.

Also, was thinking of buying a cycle, physical activity has almost become zero. Need to rev it up.

Go for an automatic Seiko. Smart watches are useless.

My collection- apple watch 4 (2019 buy), Seiko Presage, Fossil (13k automatic watch), Tissot powermatic

Bought gifts for family. For self still thinking of whether to buy a new phone, but the old one still works well after 3 years of usage, so don't feel so compelled.
