What is the difference between growth and Marketing growth
I have seen people on LinkedIn write growth team and some people write growth and Marketing . What do these people do
In a nutshell:
Growth = Key KPI increment, including user retention and growth + business cost optimisation + important partnerships + new revenue stream identification, planning, and project implementation
Marketing = It's a subset of Growth team and assists the Growth folks with everything that's related to marketing
Growth folks are better paid and rightfully so and also layoffs of growth folks are lower when compared to marketing professionals.
How to get into it
Start with internship in this field.
You'll have better chance of getting hired upon graduation.
Both these roles solve for user acquisition. Growth roles typically have to do with conversion optimisation or product led growth. Marketing is a broad term that involves anything under the Sun. From media planning to performance marketing. But I can tell you that 90% of people who call themselves growth marketers are performance marketers only
Depends on the org but usually growth is used as an umbrella term for sales + lead-gen + marketing
