What’s up with UrbanCompany?
Wanted to check with folks working at UrbanCompany how the company is doing. Are they growing / doing well? It appears to be smooth sailing but I heard they postponed their IPO.
Also how’s culture there? Heard Abhiraj is a great CEO.
I interviewed for them recently, loved the way the process was handled. The recruiter told me that early next year they might target an IPO. Although I didn’t get the job, the team sent a detailed feedback on what they liked and suggested areas of improvement. Wonderful experience.
Everytime you book a massage or any home-based service, the person providing service will end up sharing their contact info to book it offline next time at a relatively discounted rate. Similar to Uber/Ola drivers asking to cancel the ride and save on the commissions.
India is such a price sensitive market and wouldn't mind even if the discounts are small. This is becoming a major challenge for UC.
Don't know from a financial or cultural POV on the company though.
They've tried a few pivots and have found a good place in the market. Helped in a lot of wealth creation for low to middle income earners even through covid. They've improved on execution from what I've observed over the past few years as a customer, must be doing more than a few things right.
