Express them you want to become engineering manager one day and looking for future in that one. Ultimately they will promote you to manager then replace the current one. I didnt replace current one but i got promoted to Engineering manager once I expressed that to CTO and currently handling 70% of engineering team and rest 30% is handled by my ex manager

Whether he/she is able to make you feel good about you while pushing you to get the best out of you. Solve for finding a good manager - even if it means looking for a new role. Can’t stress enough how it will impact your years to come.
