Whats the average increment rate every promotion in tech?

I am a fresher and was assuming that from sde 1 to sde 2 my salary or ctc will at least become 1.75 to 2x of current. But recently came to know that even in promotion its just 10 to 20% increment. To get 1.75 or 2x you will have to switch.

Is it the same in most of the top tech companies?

Well, if this rat race is the only means for one’s survival, so be it. Not everyone is privileged enough to start businesses or their own startup

You are so innocent 😇 a step above from “monthly in hand salary = Ctc divided by 12 🤭”

Yeah bro, that’s how it is. Even during a switch, a lot of companies ask for previous salary, and try to negotiate on that basis, regardless of how you perform in the interview.

But yeah. Once u are in the company, try for min 15-20% hike. This percentage will decrease as your Year of experience increases.
