What's the most unexpected job offer you got?

Unexpected in salary, you thinking the job is out of your reach or the way you got it. Please thread here. We could all use pick-me ups!

Ex-colleague reached out to me from UK with immediate job offer (without any interviews because she had already worked with me in the past), including visa-sponsorship, in a company with decent salary and WLB.

Didn't join because I wasn't looking to go out of India at that point in time. 😅

I prepared for frontend roles, gave interviews for the frontend, but they hired me for Backend. Guess i was really bad!!

My first ever job. I'm from a non core branch; I had just been doing development projects/internships as I was a bit interested in that line of things. Come placement time; everyone was applying for every kind of company since core anyway had no prospects (just engineering things....). There was a lot of pressure Since a lot of companies didn't even consider my department. One of those days I took a test for a software development position at a fairly known brand (among others), got shortlisted, had a few interview rounds (including one with their cto). Apart from standard ds problems we were mostly talking about my projects. I even played a game with one of the interviewers on my phone that i made. At the end of it all the HR announced that they would like to extend me an offer.

Back then… when not getting placed was also a very likely possibility any job with a lesser-known brand or lower pay would've felt like a win. Amidst all that tension this offer was definitely reaching for the stars. Needless to say... I took the offer !
