Silicon Valley has the smartest people on a convention IQ scale - the Ivy League grads and Olympiad winners. Where are India’s smartest located? Are they all abroad?

Yes, all are abroad. Someone listed down all the 1000 AIR from JEE for the past few years and located them via Linkedin. Top 80% from the 100 are abroad. Around 30% from 1000 are abroad. I will look for the tweet, think it was from @deedy

It's not a shame. Opportunities outside are better. Life there is better. Talent is valued. The smartest Indians work their Ass off to become smart just for that dream. If that outcome is prohibited, people won't even study for JEEs
Depend on what you consider “smart”. Is it someone who was able to be disciplined , intelligent and did not commit mistakes with harsh consequences , during their teenage and early 20s ? Most of them moved to USA, western europe , Dubai, Singapore or Hong Kong.
Is it someone who did not see them selves working a traditional corporate job ? These guys are probably hustling in their entrepreneurial ventures most likely in Bangalore or Mumbai.
Is it someone who realised that there is more to life than generating and accumulating capital , climbing the corporate ladder ? Well they probably figured out a way to passively or semi-passively generate decent income and are probably living it up travelling, exploring, giving back to society or focusing on their family and health while enough money comes in without the headaches of the hustle life…
But who am i to say anything? Im none of the above. 😅
I belong the the last category. I am happy with whatever I am accumulating right now with my job. It’s sufficient to run my family. I work from home and am happy being with my family. Most of my relatives are in an abroad(US, UK, Australia, Canada). I am happy where my root is - that’s my village. I love the simplicity that this village brings.

To me, the hustler who makes a few lakhs a month selling poha tea while hardly showing up for 3-4 hours per day is smart.
Not every smart person likes to go abroad or be boastful about their success. It attracts unnecessary trouble.
