Can anyone fill me in on why meesho and pinelabs got marked down despite being profitable and realising good growth ?

Today there was a startup that raised $300 million dollars. I have never seen people around me use this product. Even when I go to my native villages and tier 3 towns no one I have heard uses this product.
Are these guys faking metrics ...
I know this might be a one off, but even if they are close to profitable/break even quarters, this can become a strong business
