Why is the Mechanical department so underrated ?

All the techies with 5-6yr experience are sulking with 15+ CTC. Whereas the mechanical guys struggle to get 8LPA. Why is it so unfair?

As far as I can see, Outside India the Mech guys were awarded with hefty salaries. In Pune, a fresher engineer gets merely 10-12K/month.

Can anyone where/when the Mech guys left the ship?

Not our fault bro...Government is responsible for missing that manufacturing bus. No sane person will invest in India in manufacturing sector with such a crazy bureaucracy & infinite license requirements. No real r&d work is going on , may be little in automobile sector. For such kind of work diploma & ITI trained guys are enough.

Couldn't agree more

The government is completely reluctant towards this sector. Whatever CSR activities are going on for skill development are merely giving any edge.

If they are eying for 50Trillion$ economy by 2050 then they have to boost the core industry as well. The product sector contributes a large scale of money to the GDP.

It's High Time.

Ask the government. Seriously not joking. The manufacturing industry in this country is a joke compared to a country of similar size (China). And there's your answer.

Agree 👍

The handful jobs in the core sector are sufficient for ITI/Diploma geeks.

And frankly BE/BTech guys have literally given up. They choose a 12K/month salary job for bread and butter.

One thing we have to admit here, the amount of engineers in India are growing every year but only 8% are skillful or employable in industries. (Bitter Truth)

Colleges need to focus on skill rather than subjective GPA based programs. It's high time to implement.

I think it's mainly due to new tech skills required every 5 years in IT. Mech is more or less about the same for many years, hence more talent availability
