Note - Not working for competitor company
In this situation where a employer can hire and fire anyone anytime, why “moonlighting” or working part time, having a business, doing something of your own should be problem?
If a employer can dump their employees anytime then they have to look for themselves, they have life, expenses, dependencies.
This is a high time companies change their points on this in appointment letters and contracts.
What do you guys think?
Companies have an upper hand to terminate your job at anytime that’s why they want you to work for them exclusively. Also if you have free time and noone at your company knows that you’re freelancing noone cares.

I have heard that even if you are planning to sell some e books or tutorials, or monitizing your product you have to first inform your HR
One of my friends friend shared that when company found out they send him a official letter that he didn’t inform them and now the product he developed is companies ( it was a mid size startup)

Been moonlighting for 3 years now. I work for a US based seed stage startup and also at growth stage Indian startup. Indian one pays less and has challenging work but gives stability while US one pays a lot and is basic work but can be dicy. I hid it for an year and then told both of my companies, the idea being after seeing my productivity, no one would question my contribution as I proved it over an year.
The trick is to finding companies where u can work autonomously with minimal to no meetings. Hence pick very early stage startups, they generally only care about the deliverables.
