Will it work???
We are building a new consumer application in our product line up, it's called pruddy. The idea behind the app is, you will get a virtual pet dog to raise by feeding and maintaining its health by not using your phone or you are in focus mode. The pet will have all kinds of emotions, like happiness, sadness, hunger etc..
When you are in focus mode, you get coins and using those coins, you can feed your dog.
Here is a quick look at the app.
What do you think? Will it work?
Here is the site: https://pruddy.in
The interface is so cute ❤️
Great idea. I have always thought about how to help people with phone addictions but this looks like something which might work. Very curious about how will you monetise it? I will personally wait for the IOS app and will definitely give it a shot.
Thanks man, but it's gonna be a long journey. But will keep you guys updated on what is happening. We are planning to document the whole journey, either way, if it works or it doesn't, at least someone else can learn from this and iOS application will be launching in max 1 month.
Who will be interested in virtual coins/money/gains?
So the idea is to help people quit phone addiction or compulsory phone behaviour and the best way to quit this is by having an accountability partner. So whenever the user installs the app, they have to raise this dog by feeding and maintaining and one way to do it is by not using your phone, so that you can earn coins and those coins will be used to buy food and accessories. So if you're serious about your pet. Then don't use the phone or pay money.
Hope it makes sense.
First of all, a different idea imo. Making people focus more and use phone less by adding a virtual dog that they need to take care and can only do so by not using the phone more.
I remember when playing clash of clans, when the things and factories were taking the time to build, one would just leave the app and wait, sometimes use another app or just focus during that time. So this could do something like that as well.
So how would you be counting or understanding if the person is not using the phone? As once the person closes this app, and they can move to something else. Would you be asking for usage permissions on Android to get the overall usage or something else?
Yes, you are right. We do take usage permission to understand if the user is opening the other app during focus mode and block them and only essential application will be available to use.
