you know it's likely to happen, what do you do

so through grapevine and informal conversation if you know you are going to be asked to leave, what would you do?

  1. leave as and when they ask you to
  2. try and negotiate a reduced pay / contractual job so that they keep paying you somewhat
  3. proactively go ahead tell them, here is my resignation

some more context: work, per se, is not bad. but you know that your role is going to be futile. you don't have too many loans, liabilities.

lastly, what is the amount of money minimum one should have in bank / fd (liquid) if monthly expenses are at 50k to run the house as is.

Emergency fund = expense * 12 months (for a year)

If they ask you to leave, know if it is negotiable Continue as Contract work as you said OR leave with severance.

If they ask you to leave immediately, you have to accept but do negotiate a severance.

All ego and throwing resignation on their face seems exciting, in the end money is important. Less or more, take as much as the company can spare. Do not hesitate asking for more, they wouldn’t hesitate eliminating your position
