200% Penalty on fake rent receipts etc

Got an email from payroll team that Income Tax dept. has flagged some employees ITR of our org. Seems false claims and deductions. Giving one time opportunity to rectify and re file ITR of last 3 years to avoid further action! Has this happened to you too or its just me? Suggestions? 🥺

I recently started my job(2023 grad), a lot of senior folks at my firm are (indirectly) stating that they fake hra. Is it safe? Should I also consider doing it? Let's say I live in city A and my parent live in city B can I give my parents id as landlord?

I see many of my colleagues consulting CAs for ITR filing and getting huge returns. What I gathered from their filings were bogus Health Insurance claims, fake HRA claims etc being utilised for showcasing huge deductions. These filings were done along with ITR 2 to somehow bring down the income. Can anyone shed light on this practice? Are these legitimate CAs ? Is this not illegal? Don't they get caught ? Note: This post is not to undermine CAs, but to understand how few CAs are doing this ? And is there really a way to decrease your taxable income, without having legitimate investments in the first place.

For people who lie in the 30% tax bracket, how do you save taxes? Do you suggest making a dummy rent agreement on your parents name to save HRA? Got to know that if monthly rent is more than 50K, the tenant has to pay TDS as well. How do you account for it? Any suggestions on saving taxes?
