How many of y’all think this wasn’t cool?
Context: Pine Labs ran an ad on X, poking fun at PayTm’s regulatory challenges with RBI. We got a lot of backlash for it but I’m curious to know what folks in this community think about it?
The point of advertising is to sometimes attack the competitor. A fair business strategy

I don't think this is as a competitor alone. This is due to pain as well. Paytm overpriced it's ipo and crashed the valuation of other fintech companies. If paytm post ipo was successful, this wouldn't have happened.
This is a dog eat dog world. But not this much.
Only cool as long as PineLabs isn't doing the same shit as Paytm under the wraps
I might be biased but I lost the respect I had for Pine labs and the management that might have approved this.
I can see plenty of examples on twitter aligning with my POV as well. AFAIK it hurt Pine labs more than it hurt Paytm.
I felt it's cool banter.
I guess retail investors might have felt bad

Dint paytm take such digs at gpay long back? Not sure but vaguely remember the founders went bonkers challenging the competitor in their townhall! So, this is just reaping what they sowed!
Be careful, Competition and poking are not the same. Pinelabs is a very mature product no doubt. Kudos to them for making it this Big
I did not find anything wrong with this ad. They are competitors, they will fight and sometimes they will fight hard.
As far as I feel, the only reason you are getting flak is because there is a bhakt population for PayTM.
Many companies attack each other like this. Even fk sometimes takes a dig, so did Mercedes, bmw, Toyota etc in their ad camps.
My suggestion is if it counts, back your game. Double down And elaborate next time. Just do your best to keep out of nationalist politics because the other side will use that angle for sure
It was fun. It will last till it's good for pinelabs. Some chutzpah is fine, but not when it's at expense of users. It could be worded to the user. We are here to help, we have your trust. But "the front page can be bought" was probably unnecessary. You could just say we are trustworthy would have conveyed the same
