Microsoft has gained 120B in market cap by just the news of onboarding Sam Altman. That’s OpenAI times 4 in terms of valuation. Funny how valuation is built with news breaks.

OpenAI is nothing without its people /s

This will be the fate of every engineer or scientist if they don't learn proper people & stake holder management and let folks that know nothing tell them what to do. 
  
 Elon was the one that poached Ilya from Google. And that was pivotal for OpenAI. 
  
 Just because Sam had the contacts and became the face of Ilyas work in front of the world, Ilya couldn't do a thing when he felt his own company was doing something wrong. 
  
 This is a massive learning for all stupid engineers out there. 
  
 1. Don't let dumb product folk present your work. 
  
 2. Don't let someone else and most definitely not the irrelevant product folk to be the main Point of contact for your business leads. You are the product there, you are responsible for what you build. Show up in front of business now and then, take responsibility for mistakes. Listen to their issues solve a few of them and tell that you will solve it. (I know if you let that take over there will be lot of noise, but you have got to strike a balance not run.) 
  
 3. Start learning crisp communication and stand your ground. Those who have nothing real in tech come up with way too many fantasy ideas and either are impractical or sugar coat things too much. 
 You have got to stand your ground on the beliefs that you have because other non tech ones will not have the realistic view as you do and if you don't lead roadmaps out there, you are betraying your position.

1. Satya did tv interviews and was fine if Altman goes back to OpenAI

2. Salesforce’s Marc Benioff wrote a tweet saying he’ll match compensation of any OpenAI team member who wants to join Salesforce 

3. Of some 750+ employees, 700 will move to Microsoft (with Sam) in case Sam doesn’t return. That’s insane. 

4. Vinod Khosla an early investor in OpenAi tweeted that all the openai employees should quit in case their board members don’t resign 

5. Interim ceo of openai  Emmett Shear (formerly of Twitch)  called for emergency all hands on Sunday and apparently no one turned up
