Is it all about timing?

Over the past couple of weeks that I have been on GV, seeing far too many career advice asks, especially from recent or near future graduates. Decisions seem to be at the crossroads all the time. My view on career shaping, after wading through the career waters for as long as I have: A Career is Lived Forward but Understood Backwards. Don't overthink your current situation(s), be a consistent learner and grab the breaks & opportunities that you get. Almost all successes that you see around you are "Right place, Right time". Luck plays an inordinate role in your successes, but you need create your luck - create the environment and momentum for things to come your way.

10 years of schooling, studying hard during festivals, sacrificing my playtime, my childhood for marks.. 2 years of high school - Completely cut-off from the world for a good college. 4 years of hard work for a job for a below average salary!!! On the other hand: Some random chai wala earns in lakhs. Some MLM meme girl, living a luxurious lifestyle. Insensible people are valued in society. Even a 12th fail selling beer in his family shop lives a better life. All the hard work I did is in vain? Whatever I did till this point of time was useless? What's the point of an endless struggle, if my destination has more struggle? Something is really wrong.. I have lost all my motivation 😞

It can be anything related to not doing something you always wanted to but never did, a mistake you realize you shouldn’t have made, or feelings of not being successful enough. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Does that mean the hiring bar us high in us? I simply don't understand, like these people were studying with me and they didn't know shit and you don't get enough time in us to ramp up skill levels. So is it that basically it's easier in the USA?

Hey grapevine folks, I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday. I hope everyone one of you here once in your life have always thought about karma. Ki if you are doing good deeds , being good to others will result in good karma and you will reap its benefits in future and vice-versa. But is the above philosophy is valid in today's time in kaliyuga where the money and power rules. People with connections are creating havoc over normal people. Shouldn't we now think instead of making our karma good let's do what it takes us to be successful by hook or by crook? What are your views? And if you have any personal experience please do share it.

I either see folks who build startups in college or right after it, or people who build in their early-mid thirties, and regret having done so earlier. Please feel free to share your takes on what is the right time to do it?

When i was in college i wanted to build my own company/product. Thought of many ideas and tried to build something. None of them worked and it affected my studies so I had to quit just to clear my exams. After college I took placements in a WITCH like company where I got put into data entry/operations job after clearing difficult coding interviews (kismat kharab?). Somehow learnt new technologies on the side and managed to switch to a development role at a lower salary in a startup. After 3 years Worked hard on DSA and (barely) managed to get a good offer with above average pay. But the company is not stable anymore and may layoff at any time. Right now struggling to learn enough DSA to crack any company. Now I am almost 30, i have no hobbies,no talents, no relationships just trying to have a stable career. I see people everywhere doing so many things at once. How do they manage to do this. They are working at FAANG and managing businesses at the same time, have a bunch of friends. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if this is true to its core, life depends on the people you spend time with,even if it is just few hours in a whole month. Thanks to the digital obsession and less socializing. But I always end up realising that I end up with the wrong people or surroundings. It just doesn't align at all and even though I give my best to get what I want so that I feel confident from inside on everyday basis,it fckin doesn't just happen. Guys let's be blunt on these,where have you ended up even though other things in life are well equipped.

Not sure if anyone is successful enough to answer this question but still would really like to know what you folks think about it. I know Success is a relative term. Here I am talking about that success when you are the absolute best in your field! Whatever you do, you are firmly sitting at the top. Do you think this level of success makes a person humble? It comes with endless supply of money and fame. One which you can only imagine in dreams and is achieved by a handful. What more is left once you achieve that? What are the challenges? What are the priorities now? How do they change given the fact that you don’t have to worry about the money factor at all. The only priority which I have seen is family! Isn’t it surprising how everything eventually boils down to us and our loved ones? Is there something which is more important than our family?
