Why Bengaluru is best place for Tech-Bros?🧐

I am a middle class guy working as a senior engineer in one of the product companies. I belong from the north-east, and I am the only child in my family. Since covid, I was working in a wfh setup. Recently, my company has ended work from home for everyone, and I am supposed to move to Bangalore very soon or quit. I am an active user on all social media groups on Reddit, Fb, etc. For the past couple of months after seeing so much of negative news about Bangalore, Especially the high population, skyrocketing rents, the auto unions, corruption, cut-throat competition, discriminative news, traffic issues, etc. It makes me nervous to be honest. My wfh here was pretty chill, and I had a very limited social circle here, but was satisfied since I could spend most time with my mom and dad. Im very afraid now about what should I do next, shall I quit the job and search for wfh, or shall I make my move. I don’t have any acquaintances there, no friends, no idea about what I’ll be doing next, how to start house hunting, or job hunting. At this point I am miserable and overwhelmed to think about all of this. Anyone who has gone through all of these, If you can share your 2cents, experiences or thoughts, about how you dealt this phase. It will be really helpful for me at this point in my journey. 2.5 years back, we consulted asscom Bangalore on what should be potential location to start our global business Center. Why ? Because asscom is supposed to be IT industry spoc for the government and has power to influence government to take care of the industry and in position to guide clients on location etc. We were told Bangalore is best location. Reason given ? Youngsters across India want to get away with family and have freedom, booze, party etc and Bangalore gives that freedom opportunity and hence there will never be talent shortage. (Very strange reason to attract companies but it seems to be working for some companies) When we asked about traffic, pollution etc. - we were told that’s a trade off to get talent and not relevant as in India people are used to traffic jams and all cities are equally polluted. (Again, very strange reason totally ignoring major civic challenges) My leadership from US was amused and decided never to consult them again. We ended up opening our Center in a tier-2 city and couldn’t be more happier. I moved out of Bangalore to lead the project and never going back now. Maybe if asscom leaders spent less time in cocktail parties with the government and spent more time in understanding genuine issues of people and arm twisting government to fix people issues, we would have been in much better situation. Industry made them like union leaders and they are now enjoying the limelight doing nothing for the industry Rant over .. this is not a diss in Bangalore but on industry bodies claiming to work for betterment of industry and not doing enough.

What do you think about infrastructure of Banglore with thoughts of yesterday's incident ? Is it good or too bad Or just underpass should get closed ?

Hello boys, gals and all other pals! I am switching jobs rn and I have offers from a European auto anc in Bengaluru and one in Chennai. Ceteris paribus, I wanted to know how much of a difference does being in Bengaluru make interms of future job opportunities Are there a lot of walk-in interviews for companies based out of there, job fairs etc? Is there a subconscious or otherwise preference for candidates already based out of Bengaluru? Also, how is Bengaluru in general for a 24M, single, introvert whose daily non-work activities include going to the gym, reading boatloads of stuff and watching sports? If yes, why and how much salary I can expect based upon my experience? If no why? At that time I was earning 24lpa. I have always worked in startups and would prefer to work in same.

Bangalore's infra has been crumbling under the weight of its population growth. I believe that yesterday's traffic jam was just a trailer and situation will only worsen with time. Seriously contemplating moving out of Bangalore after being here for last 5 years. People who moved out, where did you move? And are you happy now with your decision ?
