Career Crossroads: Navigating between Product Management and Analytics

Hey everyone, I'm currently at a crossroads in my career and seeking advice. I have 3.5 years of experience in social media analytics and make 6.5LPA. My academic background is a little messed up as I dropped out of engineering to study BBA. I'm passionate about technology and am trying to decide between a career in product management or analytics. I'm also planning to apply to business schools this year. I'm wondering where I can make more money in the long term. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently working at a B2B SaaS company as a PM. I have a great interest in analytics but not getting enough exposure here and my role has just got so redundant and more like project manager. It’s been really difficult in the last couple of months as growth seem to have stopped and I am really scared about my career. Experience - 1 Year Current Comp - ~17LPA fixed with some Esops Should I consider switching to analytics ( I am confident about my skills which will get me something in analytics ) given my current situation or try to get another good role in PM to which the market has been really cruel lately. Need some advice!!

To give a brief background, I did BTech in biotechnology from a tier 2 college which I soon realised didn’t have any interest in. Currently 24YOE I took up a job as an operations analyst at a series b funded startup. Worked on internal tools + gsheets + SQL(basic select queries). Became expert of this internal tool but realised the skill and knowledge isn’t transferable. Got promoted to project analyst within a year and started handling internal teams + client comm. gave 1 year to this position. Currently at 8LPA Now I am looking to switch and unable to understand which way should I go. Have interest in business strategy + data related work.

Hi All, I need advice from experienced folks here. I joined a recruitment firm working in blue collar around 6 months back as a Product Manager. Around 4 months into the system, I was tasked to build the business intelligence system (it has been ongoing). My manager asked me to whether I want to continue in data and build core skills in data analytics based on my interest and what plans for career. I am a little confused here since I haven’t tried real Product per se and although I enjoy working with data I am not sure whether to build career as a BA and if I can build data competency working as a PM. I need to get back to them by next Tuesday. What are your thoughts here? Please be brutally honest, will appreciate pros and cons Thank You!

Profile: - Engineering degree from a Tier 1 college - ~3 years of experience in product and analytics in adtech firm - Currently serving as a lead product analyst, earning around 15 LPA. Worked tirelessly to switch roles to a Product Manager position, but was denied by management and received an underwhelming appraisal. As a result, I feel that I'm not earning my true potential and feel devalued by my firm. I am considering a switch, I would appreciate guidance on whether it's a suitable time to make a change, or if I should wait until the job market recovers.

How does one move from Analytics to Product Management roles? I have ~2.5 years experience in Business Analytics. Recently I have been working on ML use cases as well. I also have product analytics experience. I really feel like I would do better in a PM role because working on a product end to end really excites me and I can use my analytics experience in that role as well. Bur how does one do this transition? Do companies accept your CV if you have nil PM experience but still wanna move into this role? Anyone who has made this transition, could you comment how you did it?

What is the future scope of the PM job role...will it still be relevant after 10 years, Is going to IIMs spending close to 25 lakhs in this economy to get into a PM job role justified?? Context: I know many people will say you don't need IIM to break into PM, But considering I'm a 25 Male, from tier 3 college...currently working as a product designer with 8 lpa...so I think the only way to reach 25-30 lpa in hand by 28 is by joining IIMs
