Need Advice - Product Manager vs Business Analyst

I have 5+ years of total experience - 3+ years of BA (business analyst) + Sr BA experience and a year of Product Manager 2 experience. Then I started my own venture. I'm thinking about switching back to the product manager role as my firm is not working as per the expectations and product development & growth marketing is something I genuinely enjoy working on. I need some advice from you all - how can I justify my 'employment gap'? What should I tell (or rather hide) about start-up failure? What should be my approach while applying for PM openings? Where should I start? I have graduated from an IIT, how can I leverage that? I know some of these questions would sound noobish, but I really don't have much experience in switching careers. Your help is appreciated 🙂.

About six months back I reached out to someone who connected me with hiring manager (BU head) who after speaking with me and my interest in product manager rolled me an offer and I joined the startup at PM. From past 3-4 months I have been working on a BI/Data project which is quite fun and I have been enjoying the project. Today he asked me if i want to do data stuff since I am enjoying and liking the role. The caveat is I’ll probably have to change my designation from Product Manager to Business Intelligence Team. Wanted to know your thoughts on it and whether to make this change?

I’m currently working at a B2B SaaS company as a PM. I have a great interest in analytics but not getting enough exposure here and my role has just got so redundant and more like project manager. It’s been really difficult in the last couple of months as growth seem to have stopped and I am really scared about my career. Experience - 1 Year Current Comp - ~17LPA fixed with some Esops Should I consider switching to analytics ( I am confident about my skills which will get me something in analytics ) given my current situation or try to get another good role in PM to which the market has been really cruel lately. Need some advice!!

Is Business Analyst loosing its lustre in Big 4?? Apart from getting to work for different type of companies as Consultants, the fear of project not getting extended/renewed is legit. Drop in your thoughts!

Hi , I am a Business analyst having 2 yoe , I want to elevate my career in data science or product or whatever i can do. What should be my next steps to have a better career. Hi folks, hope you all are having a wonderful day! I'm in a dilemma and need your expertise! I'm a senior consultant(mix of business analyst and consultant) at a mid size organization with 3 YOE, 16 LPA from tier 1 college. From my understanding I'm entering a stage where i can still pivot to product management, as later on it will be pretty hard! So my question to you all is that is it worth it to change career or should i climb ladder in consultancy. I don't really have any passion, my main focus points are money and job security. What do you think i should do?, what pays more?, which field has more future opportunities? Please advice. Ciao

I am a 2024 batch student who is graduating within a month , I am preparing for product management roles for entry level , something revolving around it will also be okay as long as it's fulfilling my long term career goals , I need to learn some technical skills which I will pretty much able to do in 2 months ranging from SQL , and analytics tools but the thing is I am from tier 3 college and don't want to have a career gap but also not getting the right opportunity . It's my humble request to all the product managers to please guide me that how can I get my first opportunity in next 2-3 months

All the PM interviews, I had attended asked for relevant PM Experience. I have an MBA from IIM Rohtak. What is the best way? Please give your suggestion.

I am a 2023 grad and I have been looking for a entry level product role. I was interning with a startup but couldn’t get full time due to funding issues. Have got a offer as Senior Business Analyst (recruiter said it’s Product Analyst don’t why they call it BA and interviewer said not much difference between APM and this role work wise). Been facing the dilemma of whether to take it or keep looking for a new role. Not sure what to do. Comp is 10L, notice period -2 months. Bootstrapped startup and I have a engineering background (CS)
