Your mental health isn't worth a slightly higher base pay in slice

A few people who are in advanced stages of the process and/or have offers from slice have been asking me whether it's a good idea to join. My answer has always been consistent and I'm posting this so that people have more clarity. Good folks are leaving in droves which is why they are trying to fill in some roles fast. The company doesn't have a proper CTO, with engineering being managed by two people, one the head of analytics and data science being the 'people mananger' who is highly under-qualified for the job, and the second a toxic and borderline abusive character who is the 'chief architect'. On top of that, there are some AHs from Bizops who'll do everything to blame you if things go wrong and steal credit if things are good, making your day worse rest of the time. The critical Glassdoor reviews are totally true, and present points in an elaborate manner, while the few positive ones are clearly planted with 1-2 lines written for each. Plus the company is suppressing many reviews with the help of community guidelines. Your package might have a generous ESOP component, but it is bloated and the company is looking to raise the next round at a highly diminished valuation. There are more things in life than a few lakhs of extra base pay, for your long term well being. I'm speaking about it openly since I left the org for a better opportunity recently and I don't want people to suffer more.

US cos are moving a large part of their teams to India after eliminating jobs in the US. Indian startups are best avoided for now. Join only if you really need a job and don't have other options.

Frankly I would also not advice anyone to join Slice, was there for a few months, lot of red flags. Heard they are also having silent layoffs now.

I been posting about Slice issues from many months now. But some people keep flagging me and doing personal attacks. It would be better if they focus on keeping their house in order rather than showing up in GV to abuse on one's salary.

That's what I've seen, if the company doesn't have a proper CTO life becomes hell for the tech employees because people who take decisions take it without knowing how much effort goes into building the product and they go and promise shit to clients

They have the Head of Data Science & Analytics as People Manager for the entire Engineering org, so that any EM/Director trying to set more rational expectations can be shunted out whenever needed. Many EMs were asked to leave because they disagreed with the wrong people.

This post nails Slice's vibe last year. Worked here 2 years, all good until CTO bounced, they definitely need a new CTO Few of the EMs used to be good , also I read a comment about Sreenu's LI post. FYI, he is one of the few genuine recruiters I have come across in 7 years of my work exp. He has always gone out of his way to help people get a job at other orgs, even when it didn't benefit him.

I met both of them when I was on a Panel at a CIBIL conference. Seemed like nice folks. But who really knows what goes on in one’s house. Like they said, ‘Kabra ka haal murde ko hi pata hota hai’ I have heard CRO is back as well and has been trying to steady the ship for a while now. Isn’t that helping?

I worked at slice for about 1.5 years. And can agree. You forgot to mention the CRO of the company and her red flags During my time they had 2 Head of engineering, not sure what happened to them

CRO thinks that the world is centred around her. Any analysis that her analysts or poor chaps associated with her team do, should be an exact replica of how she would have done it, otherwise it's not worth having a look at. She actively encourages toxic behavior in her team, pressuring them to go after people and make unreasonable demands and shift blame/load whenever it suits them.

Which one is better for Analytics role - Zepto vs. Slice vs. Phonepe

Asking for urgent guidance/help.. I have an offer from above 3 companies for their Analytics team and need to make decision in next 3 days The offer numbers are more or less same with 10% deviation so not a decision factor for me right now.. Need inputs on following factors to simplify my decision to join - 1) Team culture, My current Org. has very stressful and bad culture. So, looking for some good place to join where the team and Manager are Atleast supportive and will help in career progression 2) Build business and Product understanding, My seniors have suggested to get as much knowledge and exposure to business and product as possible and this one is very imp. in long term 3) Best tech stack, Good to have but not necessary : Want to work on some new and relevant tech stack to be relevant in constantly changing market. (Unsure if exposure to GenAI and LLMs are good to have in analytics career path And finally if any Org./leadership/manager related comments one can suggest that would be helpful too… this is a very important decision for me and my career growth and would like to stay with this for next few years for sure..

I have received an offer from Papaya Global as an SDE-2 Base: 40L, Nothing else Any thoughts on this offer, also does any know anything about this org, i saw reviews on glassdoor & it is rated 2.9 which is very low. There are many reviews stating the management is toxic. Please lmk your thoughts
