While hiring, do you really care about a candidate’s frequent job switch or just skill set?

How frequent should we be switching jobs? As many a times we encounter situation where HR interrogate about multiple career advice. HOWEVER IT IS MANDATORY TO SWITCH JOB FOR FINANCIAL GROWTH.

I come from a non-tech background and have ~4.5 years of work-ex across banking, consulting and business development (2.5 years, 7 months, and 1.5 years respectively). Last month, I switched to a CoS role in a startup but not really loving it so far. How long do I have to stay here so it doesn’t reflect poorly on my CV?

To the People who have made / are making frequent job switches ( say each year or so ), What’s your salary progression and any issues you might think you run into in the future

I'm new to the job market so I wanted to understand how frequently should I switch companies when I get a better offer. I've heard that sometimes your employer themselves will match a competing offer. But how frequently should I do this? Every 2 years? 3? Doing this too frequently can make me an objectively worse candidate so if anyone can tell me what's the ideal duration, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Just an anxiety: What should I answer if the HR asks me about the frequent switches? I always get stuck on this question ( ofcourse I do it for quick growth) but how can I sugarcoat to justify this? Hi Folks, so one my friend tells me that if you keep changing jobs / companies as frequently as within a year or so it creates bad impact of us and the chances of getting hired by other companies are less. Does this really effect on our resume or career? Does Hiring Managers check this as point before selecting any candidates ? Really wanna know as if we don’t switch we can’t survive in this companies for the salary they pay us.

This is mostly for people who have spent 10+ years in the industry. I’m sure we all can agree that the hiring and salary boom that we witnessed in 2021-22 is mostly over now. Now it’s more about surviving the job market rather than printing asymmetrical amount of money But how has it turned out for people who’ve been in the game for too long. I know some people who switched jobs too quickly and are at a higher package but still not content. At the same time, I know a few seniors who’re still in my first company and are happier than ever with the work. I understand that in Tier-1 cities, the expense itself is more and you’re sometimes forced to switch just to stay afloat. But what would you recommend new joiners based on your experience? Does chasing money in early years help later or only focusing on skills?
