Rant : Quarterly planning

We are working on improving our sprint, and quarterly planning, so want to understand how's it done in other organisations.

In your experience, what are some early signs that help detect incoming layoffs at a startup? It could be company-wide, team specific or in a particular function only.

My Manager told me that I am not performing well and suddenly put me in PIP plan . He has already told me in September that my performance was low, and I have worked hard after that to show him. Even in 1:1s after September he has told me that I am improving. But I did not expect him to give me the pivot document suddenly. He has given a project which I was already working on and now I need to deliver it by Nov end. The L4 (front end/software engineer) tasks are not easy to achieve, but I am scared about the fact that recession is coming and this might be an Amazon way of kicking people out and even if I delivered everything he asked for, he can still decide to kick me out. So , can anyone help me with referrals and tell me what should I do at this situation? What is the best way to survive PIP as well as prepare for interview? I am in L4 and have worked for amazon for 14 months till now.

Been hearing this a lot these days where companies are firing a bunch of people and forcing some others to resign, to bring down the severance cost. What are these situations created by these companies which actually force people to resign?

Why do they always send me requests at the last minute? 😒😒

Take this work a pinch of salt, not to be triggered. I work in a company with a good number of folks working in product, growth/ strategy. Many of which are from tier 1 Indian business schools or some even from abroad. Paid hefty, I just don't see them being that smart. Putting way too much time into presenting something instead of getting work done. Jugaad method of calculating target metrics, ever changing requirements (low on clarity) is just the norm. I was someone who looked upto these colleges and wanted to be in one after having a good 5 yoe. Now I'm not sure. Hoping to be proved wrong, so there's no need to fire your guns at me :)

Last two months had been great, I was consistently building a morning routine. Included little fitness too. Happy how my body felt energetic. Until one day, "I didn’t feel like getting up" Two weeks, Schedule is back to groggy mornings, skipped breakfast, put on visible fat Work has got shittier. My day starts with 2 hours of compulsory, back-to-back meetings, followed by more 1-O-1s through the day. The meetings are just crying how things are bad, not working out, employees are not putting efforts, revenue is down, sales is not performing, clients are leaving - 3 hours later, we still haven't got a action plan. What's the use? This wasn’t meant to be a rant. Just that cannot tell people to fuck off. I feel should tell a part of me to fuck off too.

What is the best way to tell or signs to pick up from your manager/team if you’re about to be fired

Hey folks! A lot of people have been asking me on LinkedIn about how to get into strategy / founders' office roles. I'm in that role but I had never 'tried-tried' for it so I'm also not aware of the landscape really. Would love to hear from other folks here who are in this role to get a better idea of what you do at your orgs! What does your day to day work look like? What was your prior experience? How did you get into this role? etc.

Last month I interviewed with NoBroker for a Demand Servicing Head position. The process went like this: 2 rounds of screening with HR/TA - was okay, good conversations. After which they scheduled an interview with the Business Head for the particular team. This interview went well too. After this they sent me an assignment - the longest assignment I've ever worked on as a part of the recruitment process. It asked me to write multiple detailed SOPs for the sales team, build a demand forecast model, and a complete demand generation plan for an oddly specific scenario. They gave me 5 days for it. I worked my a** off, desperate to get the job as I've been unemployed for some time. I did the assignment close to perfection - spoke to so many industry folks in real estate and made realistic assumptions, covering all possibilities. All in all I've not been so confident about my work ever like I was in this case. I submit and they acknowledge. Few days go by, I follow up, only to be given generic delay reasons by HR. Eventually, after more than a week they rejected me. When I requested for feedback on the assignment they completely ghosted me. I don't know why I'm sharing this here, but it's been hard. I've been jobless for > 5 months and every such experience completely shatters my already low self esteem further.
