I am working as chief data officer , but the company has less data but good wlb and very good environment . Nobody is stoping me to do anything . I got an offer from grab Singapore in Singapore with salary 30000 sgd per month and stocks extra . Should I leave India for Singapore . I have 20 years experience and growing child middle school and current ctc 1.25 inr with bonus . Should I go or not
Singapore is a very good country. It's an emerging hub for finance and technology in Asia and at par with Dubai.
You've got a very nice salary which is equivalent to any C-suite level role since you're going in for a chief position at Grab. I think you should go for this role and spend few years of your career outside India if you haven't in your previous 20 yoe.
You'll have a great career growth and also your kids will have a top quality education in Singapore. Also Singaporeans universities ranking better than IITs, so rest assured your kid will definitely have good education if they're pursuing STEM degree. Singapore has a high human development index in the world. Singaporeans are very knowledgeable and highly intellectual people I've known.
Unlike US and Europe, Singapore is hardly 5 hours by flight from any major Indian city so you can come to India anytime you wish over a long weekend. Infact you can afford to come every weekend (if you're not taking your family along to Singapore).
I've tried finding a job in Singapore in Oracle domain several times but I'm not getting anywhere more than SG$ 12k for my experience level. I'd recommend you should look forward to take this role and go with your family for long term.
Here's a short documentary about Singapore. https://youtu.be/xi6r3hZe5Tg
What does SGD 30k translate to INR? How good is it? Not OP, just asking
~ INR 18.5 lacs per month, but he'd be liable for 18% taxation in Singapore for that salary so his inhand pay would be approximately SG$ 24k ~ INR 15 lacs per month i.e. INR 1.8 cr annual net earnings. I think with family expenses he should be able to save 1 cr annually.
Umm, this is a no brainer Better company, better living conditions, much better pay
But I don’t want to go leaving a remote job
Come out of your comfort zone. Remote job was only a trend which got popularized during Covid lockdown. Don't expect to grow professionally if you aren't ready to come out of your comfort zone. Tell me how many high valued professional connects did you make simply doing remote job. The amount of time you spend outside your home is the directly proportional to your professional growth and success in life.
Think of it like an opportunity to explore your life and career in a new way.
I am also in process of leaving my remote job. I legit felt quite stupid (i am in mid 20s), but my personal exposure and career growth is limited due to wfh so better for me to go into a hybrid ord
Bhai mujhe bhi Norway wali company me lagwado. Kaise search ki remote opportunity?
But should I go
Bhai grab ka ofcourse naam bada hai, agar aapko family means apne maa baap ya bhai behen ko chodh ke rehna hai Singapore me ya kuch time ke liye explore karna hai tjh ja sakte ho. But agar aapko salary already more than sufficient hai aur job safe hai bina tension ke zyada life chal rahi hai toh mat jao.
Mujhe ye nahi pata ki abhi kaunsi company me ho aap but Grab aapko Kai aur badi opportunities dilwa sakti hai future me
After having 20 years of experience. I would suggest having a peaceful life. If you are super fit in terms of physical and mental health then it's ok to pursue.
Else here are my thoughts
I am pretty sure there would be having responsibilities interms of family/older parents. Kids.
Since you are earning great while in india. I would suggest to discuss this with your family.
Upto 300k SGD per year is pretty much middle class or a little higher in Singapore.
Owning a car is damn expensive. A hondacity costs you more than 1cr.
Singapore work culture is more demanding and people work for longer hours. Expectations are more. Europe is more chill I would say.
I am pretty sure. You could fund your kid's batchelors or masters anywhere in the world.
