Salary expectation for a DevOps Engineer with 3+ YOE

I am a DevOps Engineer in a series C funded startup. My current compensation is 40LPA, which included 38LPA fixed, and 2LPA performance bonus. I want to understand what my realistic expectations should be if I look out for another job. I am open to all types of companies, be it a MNC or a well established startup. I can be wrong by a huge margin, but I was expecting somewhere around 75LPA CTC with 70LPA fixed, given the fact that my promotion is due this upcoming December and I am expecting atleast 20% hike on my current CTC and in hand compensation. What are your thoughts on this. And if possible, can you guys also tell me what I should be prepared for if I get an interview opportunity for a senior level DevOps Engineer.

I don't know why it is so difficult for some of us to comprehend the fact that a 3+YOE person can land a job offer like that. It has always been about knowledge and your experience with the tools and technologies relevant in that job. And if a person even out of college can demonstrate that I think he/she also has a good chance of landing some offers like that. Just to put into the picture, a girl from my batch of my college got placed in a really great startup, at a whooping package of 35LPA in hand. This is a package that was offered to her straight out of college.

What I need from this community is help and guidance on how and what should I prepare to upskill myself to prepare for something that big.

Actually Most of the people in this app are from service based companies that's why they are not being able to get the pay of top product based companies.

Hmm..that makes sense. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's sentiments but it is the reality that if you work hard enough you will achieve the unexpected

You are already at quite high paying. Can you share a bit more?

  1. How you got this role?
  2. Is this a US startup and you are working in remote?

I might get hate for this but You are overpaid already and the expectations you have is wayyyy more higher than industry norms try telling the same expectations to HR you will realize yourself you wont even get shortlisted forget about the interview

Well the question was not for someone like you. If I have people whom I know who have reached that CTC, in that much of time, then only I expected there would be others out there with similar experiences and would like to share how they got there. Well if there was a #grapevine question, about how I got where I am right now, I'll be more than happy to share some insights.

In India 3+ year experience guy don't even get 7 LPA in most of the cases 😂

Well the question was not for them. It is for someone who is there. If it was that easy to get 70LPA from an online course or just the hard work, every other guy/girl would've been there. Hence there wouldn't have been this question.

If you could share how you landed up into a Devops role...it would be of great help for the people who are willing to consider it as an option
