Newbie Seeking Advice

Hey everyone, seeking some career advice here. So, I've been grinding away in the risk domain at a big financial services MNC for about 2 years now ( have total experience of 5 years from similar companies), pulling in around 30 lakhs INR. Recently, I got a bit curious about what else is out there, so I started poking around. But here's the kicker – every HR rep I chat with says my pay is cool, but they're eyeing up MBA grads from fancy schools for the budget I'm looking out for. Thing is, I know my stuff. I've snagged awards, jumped up the ladder faster. But now I'm starting to sweat about whether my lack of an MBA is gonna bite me in the rear down the line. Plus, with all the chatter about layoffs, I'm low-key freaking about whether my gig here is as solid as I thought. Any advice on how to navigate this maze? Should I bite the bullet and go for that MBA, or stick to my guns and trust that my track record speaks for itself? Appreciate any wisdom y'all can drop!

Working in a service based analytics firm and have been staffed in the same project since the beginning. The work fluctuates a lot but at no point I felt the work I'm doing is adding to my learning. Thought about switching but given the current trend I'm not finding any good opportunities (Tier 2 UG Private college) Looking for advice from experienced folks.

Hello people, I graduated last year and joined a fast-paced startup back in july as an SDE (2023 grad). So many things have changed so far within the company. Company has closed good series B funding. The top level management has changed, my manager and colleagues resigned due to the kind of work and cultural shift and lots of work but I stood there and delivered projects (was making them from scratch). Whatever was thrown on me during this time, I took that as an opportunity and delivered that. I literally worked on 4-5 tech stacks and built complex projects from scratch with 3 members team only. Now it seems like their ask is never ending and they again want me to put in another techstack since the existing products we built are working fine and we are just maintaining it now. The culture of the company is still very good despite having lots of work though the pay is above average. I am seeing my friends around me joining another company and getting much better hikes. I also want to make a switch but deep down in my heart I have these questions coming up: 1. Should I switch before completing 2 years since it's my first job and I have spent only 1 year so far here. I really don't want to make this habit of switching again and again. 2. The kind of bonding I have made with my colleagues so far. Will I be able to get the same environment in the new company? 3. Should I join the startup again or should I target MNCs now. Because I have been building multiple complex projects for the past 1.7 years (this is my 3rd startup) from scratch and this is also getting normalized for me. Is it time to work on a scale? 4. Feel less valued sometimes. Despite delivering lots of efforts, it seems like I am not getting valued much because it's kinda hardware company and things go around that only. 5. Although, I am working on complex projects here but sometimes I feel missing out if I hear what others are doing. Should I go to a pure software based company? 6. I am not making much here to be honest despite having much better coding skills (10 base + 2.5 PB + 2.5 VP) but I am able to manage my money well despite living in Bangalore. Should I be hungry for more? I would be happy to read your opinion on these guys.

Most of the posts that I've seen here are from tech folks. Looks like a great community for them. But I'm not sure if there are any folks interested in IB or PE here. But let me try... I come from a decent B school and working with a good brand. The only issue I see is in terms of learning and growth. I'm supporting the US market right now and the work appears to be very mundane and dead. Looks like even 2 yrs down the line, I'll be doing the same ad hoc support work with no proper deal exp. Not sure where my career will be headed if I stay here too long. Thinking of trying for Indian I-Banks like Kotak, Avendus or o3. Any advice from anyone who's made any such move? How should one go about it?

I'm working in TCS for 1yr and benched entirely. I'm fed up now and looking for a job/internship in startups. Do u guys think that I should quit immediately or leave after getting a offer? And what do u all think about TCS pay of 23k per month for entry level associates?

I've been working with a private bank for the last 4 years in corporate banking. Tired with the hierarchy and operations/admin work. I did an MBA from IIT and B tech from NIT.   I would like to change the industry and profile. I know switching between the two would be tough but possible, but I can't work in banks anymore.   I am exploring career options now, to put it bluntly. I've been seeing a lot of cross-border remittance and lending startups, but considering the present situation, I don't want to risk joining an early startup. In an ideal scenario, I would like to move to a data analyst position in an MNC. Open for suggestions

I'm working with Ernst & Young for around 4 years now. Great working culture, great flexibility, decent salary. I work in international Taxation. I haven't started exploring opportunities outside, but I was curious to understand if I should apply to finance startup companies or stick to Big 4 company. I am looking for more salary, interesting role, more learning, I can put in maximum hours on a daily basis, prefer 2 week wfh/ wfo. Please advise?

Hi, I am just confused about what to do next. Right now I am a fresher working at a service based company as a junior software engineer with a salary of 4LPA. Should I be working and shifting companies with work experience or do my Masters after about 2 years of work experience. I would love to get some advice from you folks Thanks.

I started in FAANG about 7 years ago(first job out of college). Went to USA for a brief period of 1.5 years. I have saved up around 6-7cr and have a total CTC of 1.2-1.3cr All this is amazing but I am not happy. Job is bleh with everyone I have met trying to press their own agenda. Growth in terms of promotions is slow and with economy like this, you can be fired anytime. I have been having trouble sleeping and it’s not been easy. Have tried therapy but it’s not helping. Maybe I need sabbatical as I burnt out
