Bro, just think on objective terms. Leave idealogy & political affirmations aside. Every 1st world country will treat you like an outsider until you become extremely important (like Vivek Ramaswamy), chances are you will have to be an extremist there too. Here you have an unfair advantage as a majoritarian. Choosing to remain apolitical is much better than facing discrimination yourself. Unless money is the motivation, leaving India sounds like a senseless decision to me. PS - You really don’t appreciate your domestic help enough.

All the best for your future. Having spent a good part of my working life abroad, in several countries, I can vouch for the fact that you might face prejudice and racism everywhere. Maybe not overt, but for sure. The best thing to do is to keep your nose to the grindstone, lay low and follow all the rules and regulations of your chosen country. Needless to mention, steer clear of their politics and internal issues. This will give you slow but steady professional and economic success. For sure. As for a sense of belonging, or cultural fitment, I'm not so sure you will find that anywhere else. Flawed as we may be, we are essentially Indian. Even in countries with a sizeable diaspora, you will only find an imitation India. The real deal, warts and all, only exists here. Nevertheless, all the very best for your future. This was a really thought provoking read that made me reflect too. I think wherever you go, you need to come to terms with India now as a political society no longer reflects the values you grew up with or you were taught at school. the Ayodhya temple is a watershed moment where religion and politics were mixed to such an extent. We are in the unprecedented territory now and I’m scared to see where this will end. My biggest reason for staying back is my family. And even that past a point I’ll have to decide what point my own mental peace can withstand everything that’s happening. Back in the worst of the Karnataka anti hijab bullshit in 2022, I reached out to a prof from undergrad I consider a mentor. He is an OCI (American citizen) but lives and does research in India. So I spoke to him last year. I told him, look all this is happening in India, I think emigrating will solve that. He says, you are upset about what’s happening here, it will still persist abroad PLUS you have all the difficulty of adjusting to a new culture as an emigrant. And I think there are bigger issues of where to go if I decide I can no longer put up with this .. US is in a big mess (and they are stupid enough to re elect Trump most likely next year). Canada mein the same problems. Europe maybe.. but Netherlands / Germany / France are all seeing a right wing resurgence. I was looking at South East Asia too. When I was at Gojek it used to offer relocation to Indonesia (which is still fast growing and a large economy) and there are lots of Indian expats there. But there also they have some similar problems as India (increasing religious interference in politics and law)

Yo bro. Ram temple was in demand for hindus for a very long time. It's equal to what mecca medina, vatican is to Muslims and Christians respectively . Hindus are the most liberal of all religions. Yes there are a few bad apples, that's not surprising, it's everywhere in everything. India is growing, it's what the USA was in the 60s , religion is part of culture, politics here. You don't like it, don't read about it. I would suggest you to keep calm and grow your skills. If you think BJP is non secular, Congress is a father of being non secular. It's the hindus that don't revolt. A hi du will speak even for Muslim, but that doesn't happen the other way around . So anyways. India is the most secular place if you truly understand what secular means.

I feel absolutely devastated to hear this. I was born in a Hindu family but have been an atheist for as long as I can remember. I just want you to know that you are not alone. We might be in the minority but there are still enough of us who believe that this country belongs equally to Muslims, Christians and people of every other faith.

I remember even I had felt the same way, not just because of mixing religion with politics, but also the basic living experience in this country is down too bad, and all I can think of is to leave this place and have some peace once and for all, people might say other countries ain't there yet, but ngl, they're definitely better than ours. I used to believe in all the righteousness of Lord Rama, but the ones worshipping him, are the most hypocritical of all, and will lie, cheat and be disrespectful to others. Brain Drain is inevitable in this country and I wish that doesn't happen, but it's not getting any better here.

Your decision is great. Always explore new ways. Human reached this level due to experiments. Life is temporary. And everyone have only one.

No bro, you are not wrong. I have also toyed around this thought a lot. But finally I came to the realisation that based on my life stage and the person that I am, I'd likely be happier in this country. Not because it is great or anything but simply because I was born here. I too believe that we are down this hell road and there is no turning back now. So if you think you will have a better life outside, then just do it without holding any guilt. But do think hard if this is really the right thing FOR YOU. As for me, I have found solace in the concept of accelerationism.
