Got laid off as an intern, 2 times!! AMA?

Have worked in edtech, crypto and fintech, been through layoff (as an intern 😀), got multiple offers within 10 days of being laid off, got the PPO denied from one while got the PPO from the other. Have seen founders with half a billion of funding boast about their culture and seen them layoff 120 folks the very next month. Yes, its nothing compared to what the very well experienced folks on this platform have seen and experienced and gone through, but it's honest work :) So ask me anything 😀

Heyy fellow developers, It's 23 engineering graduate from top college in bengaluru. I got an internship+ fte offer from Australian based SaaS startup. For these 6 months I have given my day n night to this job only to get to know that due to no projects in pipeline they are not going to convert any of the interns to full time. Hi folks, I got laid off today from a YC-backed startup (W23) citing a shift in product focus. Was part of the core team since Oct '21, initially as an intern then later converted to FTE in '22. Got a decent (30%+) increment this year. I was leading the mobile platform but currently, I'm on a notice period. CTO is supportive and helping me via their network. Got laid off in Nov 2022, freelanced till Feb 2023 and started full time in March 2023

Hey everyone, I hope you can help me out with this one query i have, is it fine to tell the interviewer that i got laid off when they ask why i am looking for a job change in this marker? I have been WFH for 2 years, have 6L in liquidity for runway i guess, idk if it's safe or not but how is the job market currently. Recently gave interview in a tier 1 product based company, got rejected in 2nd round as well so what should be my plan now? How to tackle this feeling of being incompetent and anxiety? I will go first - I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

I don't know why everyone is making a big deal out of layoffs. Even the ones who laid off are not that concerned than the ones who comment. Laid off employees literally get free money upwards of 10 lakhs in many cases of senior developers who are laid off from top tech startups. Companies pay severance equal to 3-6 months salary of laid off employees. Some even offer other benefits as well. I personally know a couple of Devs who got around ~9-10L in severance pay. So, yeah if there are layoffs happening in funded tech startups or leading tech companies, considering their pay range, laid off employees get handsome severance pay including employee benefits
