Oracle DBA as a Career
I joined Infosys as a fresher. Working as Oracle DBA and now having approx 2.3 Years of experience as an DBA. Can anyone please tell what is the future of Oracle DBA & Growth in terms of salary. Do I need to switch now and how much I can expect for my switch?
There is no straight yes or no answer. Depends on how good you are at what you do. I myself being an Oracle DBA in Oracle itself with ~10+ Yoe have ~34LPA but this package one could easily reach much early in some hot technologies. So in short if you are good at programming and have good logical brain switch to better technologies early in the career, BUT if you are good as an admin sort of role you can have good career as a DBA but ensure to learn all round techs (from html, middleware to linux, network and storage) atleast at an awareness level as no one is looking for someone with only one tech experience any more so multi-cloud, kubernetes and devops would also be a good domain for this. You could much early reach at an architect role with this as well.
Thank you so much. I will keep that in mind and try to learn cloud and other things also whatever you told.
Hi I’m an Oracle DBA with 3.6 years of experience
When I see people around jumping to new companies with much more packages I think Oracle DBA is a role which is mostly underpaid, I am thinking to shift to cloud as in Azure or Aws cloud engineer, Please suggest me if it is a good choice
