Both are fine. Choose what is more interesting and gives you more outs.

Typically DS roles are rarer and an excellent differentiator in terms of work done. Could be a value add if you have plans for AI/ML MS abroad or even an MBA relative to SDE.

But, job market for SDE is more liquid and you will have an easy time switching jobs and increasing your pay.

As of now I don't have plans to go for ms but might change in future if i have finances
I see a lot of data engineering roles in the market , although data scientist is less In development roles is the stack an issue while switching bcz Tejas is a networking/ece type company and is more upon hardwares than networks,so will it be difficult for me to shift to top companies where mostly springboot kafka ,java are used in backend?

Generally, it’s not an issue. Titles are agnostic of frameworks in any type company.

If you want to work in a startup then yes it will matter.

Similarly, DS work also carries wildly between organisations to organisation
