Embracing metro life

I’ve had some experience (2/3 of my life) staying abroad but didn’t make it into any full time long term roles and moved to India. But if given an opportunity I do want to go abroad, it’s just difficult. I see folks here that moved back to India intentionally. Why did you do that? What about India made you come back?

Question to bachelors working in a remote job from a metro like Bangalore, Delhi or Mumbai and not living with parents. How do you deal with not having people around you ? Does it get lonely sometime ? How do you manage your day and schedule around work in general ? Context :- I've got a job offer from an Indonesia based startup and they don't have an office in India. I've never worked a remote job, except COVID and I don't know if I should work from the metro or go back home? Benefits of Metro : You get to be around people who work similar jobs. Benefits of home : You save money and life is a little peaceful there.

I have a budget of 1cr. I’d probably stay there for as long as I have to go to office. But that could change at some point. I am not a Bangalore native so I will go back to my native place. So I’d like to buy in good areas where it can actually be a good investment too. What builders to target? What areas to target? Any bad experience you’ve had with any builders or anything that you’d like to share.

I know a lot of companies are hiring for roles with competitive offers that are in sync with Bengaluru, Pune, Gurgaon, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Why not stay away from metros given the right opportunities? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I have been working from mountains and it has been a very good experience. I am here since last 13days no internet issue and mobile data is also fast enough. I got a tiffin arrangement as well. I'm a 28-year-old married (Wife is also working) individual currently residing in Kolkata, where the living expenses are relatively low. I have 5 years of work experience, and my current compensation package is 28 lakhs fixed and 3 lakhs variable (approximately 1.95 lakhs in-hand salary after deductions). With no liabilities or responsibilities, my monthly expenses are around 40,000 INR, and I manage to invest around 1.5 lakhs per month. Currently, I enjoy a stable job and live with my parents, who take care of most of my living expenses. However, I'm considering the possibility of switching jobs and moving to another city, which would require me to bear the additional costs of rent, food, and other living expenses on my own. Question: Given my current financial situation and the potential for increased living costs in a new city, should I explore a job switch and relocation? Or should I continue with my current stable job and living arrangement in Kolkata, where my expenses are minimal? What factors should I consider when making this decision?

You are being judged and measured every day. Every quarter your new ratings are being published. Every here and then your colleuges are getting fired and you dont know when suddenly it would be you. Such a peer pressure with huge amount of people competing for same shitty life. How are you guys able to work around this ?

Bangalore's infra has been crumbling under the weight of its population growth. I believe that yesterday's traffic jam was just a trailer and situation will only worsen with time. Seriously contemplating moving out of Bangalore after being here for last 5 years. People who moved out, where did you move? And are you happy now with your decision ?
