This is the best approach. Just make sure that you have a compelling enough reason that you can tell the other attendees if they ask why you are leaving early.
And ensure that you can say no politely if someone asks you to stay back.

Networking can be done without being high on drugs or alcohol also. Those bondings are also highly fragile.
Just ask anyone, they will be happy to help. Utilise social media wisely n don't change imitating others
