Impact of the market conditions / layoffs on PM salaries

With talks of PMs not being required last year, to crazy layoffs scene and PM hiring being the indicator of industry hiring scene, how do you folks deal with the anxiety? With PM hiring being skewed towards supply side, do you think about contingency plans in case you are fired? Too much anxiety being a PM with 5 years experience and salary being the only income source.

How is the Product Management market in India? I am looking out for a switch and currently work as a PM with 3 YoE( 7 overall YoE). Are any companies hiring currently for the role? I have heard and read that currently there is a lot of slowdown in hiring. What should the best approach to look out for the role in these conditions?

I have heard that PM and SPM salaries are undergoing market correction. Is this actually happening? If yes, by how much? I think avg PM salary is 30 LPA and avg SPM salary is 40 LPA. What is the new norm post correction?

I am sick of PM junta acting so pricey when joining a Series A. Most junta are stuck in their jobs doing boring stuff, and they keep seeking exciting opportunity to arrive. But when it's knocking on the door suddenly everyone wants a 40-50% fixed pay hike and doesnt want risk sharing (say ESOP component higher than fixed). For what!! Dude Series A has lesser money that's 1, unlike the cushy companies to these PMs are leaving and then, all of a sudden , I derive my happiness from "intellectual stimulation" or "real work" just vanishes in thin air. Btw, we are offering like 5-15% hike on their current fixed pay with atleast 1:1 ESOP min (giving more to people who negotiate on ESOPs). Series A hiring is tough. 🥲

Met a PM from IIT / IIM with 4 years of experience. He is working at a well know soonicorn at a salary of 17 lakhs per year . He used to draw 30 lakhs per year in his last role before we was laid off . Interesting Times ahead
