What's the most valuable thing you've learned from a younger colleague? How has it impacted your work or perspective?

What’s the most important career advice you’ve ever received? It could be anything, an advice from your colleague, a lesson you learnt the hard way, or a piece of wisdom that changed your perspective! 🌟🌟

Background: I'm about to start my corporate journey and one of the advices I recieved was "Don't take things personally, and treat most feedback as a chance to improve and not resent!" What would you advice your younger self, about to step out in the corporate world? Drop some wisdom!

I want to ask the experienced folks in management consulting that how did you manage to upskill yourself along with your job in order to be more valuable as well as explore and learn about new sectors and domains. It would be really helpful for someone like me starting his career to get some valuable insights. Also add some resources you used for the same. Thank you and looking forward to your responses.

What would be the one professional lesson that you wished had learnt early in in your career ?

Hey everyone. Thought I could do an AMA. A bit about me - have 4 years of work experience and graduated from a non engineering college. Was at a startup before (from Series B to Series D) before becoming a VC Personally look at consumer and B2B investments here Happy to answer any questions around life as a junior VC, startup ecosystem, career growth etc.

Would be great if you can share somethings that you've learnt it the hard way especially on topics like stakeholder management (dealing with engineering/ execs/ founders/ P&L team), learning/ upskilling, switching internally/ externally, perfection vs hacky stuff

I was laid off last year, the CTC was reasonably high there (110k USD base, not practical in India ik... Maybe that's why they had to cut us off). That of course was quite a down time but I was happy that I had a lot of side projects in hand, and was up to date with the tech stack. It's something I learned, "A company is a company, nothing less or more than that. Curious to know, what are your lessons from these times? That one thing you wish you told/reminded yourself before these lay offs? To me, it would be: 1. Stay humble. Your salary or your company shouldn't define your attitude. 2. Keep learning. Find time for your personal growth. 3. Stay active in the community, be aware of what's happening. Be it good or bad, it can come to you as well. 4. Save while you can! Savings have helped me a lot. P.S: I mentioned my base pay from prev salary not to boast about it, there is nothing to boast about tbh ... It's just to mention more context.
