Did I do the right thing turning down a 40% hike offer

Hey folks, so I am a 2022 graduate and I'll try to make this short as much as possible: * I was giving interview at a company for backend dev * Over the period got promoted from MTS to SMTS with CTC correction from 12.8 to 14.74 at my current company * Last Friday did the cultural fitment round * After following up got a call from HR saying they'll update me by this weekend * However I updated her with the information regarding role change and CTC correction * Now she asked what'll be your expectations * First, she asked whether I could shift with the same CTC, but I was hesitant, she took it as no. * I asked what is your range? She said there is no range * I told her as per market standard, she said I'll take 30% to herself as of now So I need help here: * what can I tell her? Or should I tell her something before the weekend or not? * Should I ask her if it'll be senior role as I am a SMTS now? Also, this is the current salary range as per Glassdoor of this company: * Sr. backend: 25 * SDE: 15 + 6 Additional info for my current company: * My manager said that my base will be matched with SMTS in April which is 18-24 * Also heard the news that the company will not give appraisal to anyone in April

My current company has given me a golden handshake for one month since project did not take off. My wife business is doing really well and she wants to open a 2nd place. She said she will manage everything including our monthly expenses and children education etc. She is super confident and at the same time doesn't want me to rush into something that will damage my mental health and has even offered me to help her in some capacity in her business. I actually let go of an offer giving me a 18 percent hike only and also didn't feel comfortable with the role and company. Do you think what I am doing is wise? Is it wise to take sometime off and not rush into anything? Or is the job market very bad and I should have taken any offer.

The company I used to work for recently shut down and I just received my first offer from a sizeable unicorn. I am being massively low-balled (20% cut). And on top of it, it's an exploding offer. I have a couple of interviews lined up (they start after May 28th) but at the moment, this is the only offer I have. What should I do? 1. Hard negotiate? Leave the offer on the table if it doesn't work out. 2. Soft negotiate. Get the offer. Interview with other companies and try to get a better offer before joining (feels wrong) Things to consider: - I have 10+ months runway - Last cash comp was 24L at 2.5YOE I'm leaning towards 1.

Folks, I was in talks with a company for a role and they sent this assignment. I thought a lot and declined doing it because I found it to be abhorrently long and painful to complete. Did I do the right thing or should I have considered doing it? I don't want to think that I acted as smartass. I changed the name to maintain anonymity.

Hi Folks, Have you guys ever rejected an offer just because you thought maybe after 1 year I will get something better? I'm currently working as a consultant. I got an offer in a core product based company that too for a senior position. I got a decent hike approx 40 percent and stocks as well I have switched 3 companies in my career of 4 years (currently working in 4th). This is seen as a red flag by interviewers. And I also strongly believe I have some growth in my current company (skill wise not money and promotion). But in terms of Promotion or Money I have to wait a lot. The hikes are expected to be around 10 percent max in the month of November and for Promotion I have to wait till next June 2025 probably. What should I do now please advise 🥺

Got a role promotion to SDE 2 but hike provided with role change was very minimal i.e 10%. I am disappointed with this as I have been rated very well by my peers. I am thinking of asking to reverse the role change for a better hike. Would like the grapevine community to share some thoughts about this.

hey, so i currently earn 6lpa and applied for a job at a bigger company and they offered me 12 lpa even though i applied for a role with 3+ years of experience while i had about 6 months of full time experience and a substantial amount of freelance experience. They offered me a job of PD 1 of which i checked the salary range to be 12 lpa max for someone with 1 year of experience. I got them down to 13 lpa but then they asked if i will join if it's under 14 lpa and i said no. they said they'll get back to me if it's a positive but i haven't heard from them now and it also involves switching cities from blr ro mumbai. was it a stupid move? how can i fix this and also negotiate for a signing bonus and a relocation bonus? TLDR current ctc : 6 lpa offered ctc : 13 lpa requires relocation from blr to mumbai turned it down due asking for 14 lpa how to fix this and ask for relocation and signing bonus?

Sorry for being a pussy but I'm very new to this. So I accepted an offer from a company and did the BGC docs and all. 2 month later, now I have a better offer that I want to join. I'm sure I don't want to join the first company. Was gonna call the HR now, but what do I say??

Hello everyone, Wanted opinion on the following offer I received right now from an ed-tech startup in gurgaon. My experience, 1YOE UiUx, Place- Delhi Current Salary 5.04LPA (All fixed and 5 day week office) What they are offering is 6LPA (90% fixed, 10% variable - based on performance, to be paid every quater, alternate saturday working) And I'll have to shift to gurgaon for the job. Is the offer good or what should I negotiate. I have to confirm it soon, since they want me to join by monday.
