How do I start Freelance/Consultancy as Backend Engineer?

As Software Engineers, it might be bit difficult starting out with first freelance gig or contract job. I was able to secure one in college with about 50k/month for about 4months working as a back end engineer for an Indian SaaS company and international client. Great learning and great pay for a newbie. Also if you have a full time job and freelance gig. how do you juggle between both? Keeping in mind you also need to take personal time and time for fitness.

Any tips on how to get started. I along with two of my friends are looking to get into freelancing. And we are a perfect mix of engineers. I am a Backend dev with 2+ years of experience and one of my friends is a lead AI engineer, the other is a fronted engineer with extensive experience in react. Any help/lead would be much appreciated.

Hey folks, I want to dip my hand in freelancing. My job is quite laid back and i have a lot of free time. I have been grinding leetcode in my free time but I'm bored of it. So, I decided why not use this to expand my real working knowledge and earn some side income too. Any experienced freelance person, please guide on how to start and where to. I'm currently working as a Frontend Engineer at leading FinTech in India. I'm doing great in my current role(IMO). I also contribute to open source libraries on weekends. Maybe it is FOMO or my learning curve being relatively flat, recently I'm feeling I don't want to type cast myself as a frontend engineer and explore backend as well. I might get promoted to senior role this appraisal cycle. My current org (specifically my managers) don't want me to contribute in backend services as there are already plenty devs in backend. How to go about this? I can't switch since, no company would hire a folk as a senior backend developer with 0 backend experience.

Hey folks, wanted to understand a couple of things from experienced folks here - 1. What does freelance consulting look like? 2. How to start working in freelance consulting(shadowing/independent projects for free/volunteering etc.)? 3. Are there any hard barriers to entry(YoE, MBA, T1 grad for example)? 4. What platforms should one use to obtain projects that pay decently well - 2-3 hours daily leading to ~30k earnings monthly? If this is an unrealistic expectation, how does the payscale build over time? 5. Any other insights/comments that would affect the decision to work on freelance consulting. Thanks in advance!

Planning to spend some extra time doing freelancing as a backend developer. What would be the best platform to start ? Something that has quality jobs. Also if anyone can share their own experience.... Is it easy money ?

So I am working on frontend for past 1 year, and work has become monotonous and I always wanted to be in backend, my team only works in frontend. What should I do because I don’t want to be stuck in frontend forever, people around me are saying if I stay here for a year more, I will be stuck in frontend and it will be very hard for me to switch to backend. I am a graduate from a tier-1 engineering college and will be starting out with a job in a few months at a financial services MnC in an analyst role. I am looking to build some income streams apart from my salary over the next few years and wanted to gain some freelancing skills to build an online business but am confused about where and how to start. I've seen people working on software projects and stuff like digital marketing but can't really picture myself in similar roles. I'm not a techie, my interest lies mainly in finance and business but I'm fine with exploring and venturing into something new as well. Would be great if someone who has done it in the past can please guide as to what can be some promising skills to gain and how to go about it.

Hey folks, I am a senior software engineer at Swiggy working in as a mobile engineer for the past 5 years. I have worked on few backend & infra stack in past companies (node js, go-lang, kubernetes, s3, etc) just for exploring and expanding my horizon. I am thinking of seriously perusing this now. What are my options here? I am open to learning via online course / my own side projects. Also how to approach for hiring given it won’t be my expertise but I am willing to be hired at a lower package for the long term benefits. Reason to consider a transition is boredom with working in a single domain.

How can we do side projects with any consultancy? And what about payment should we take it in different bank account than yours. Just to be safe from permanent job company.
