Reflecting on my current lifestyle and looking for ways to make it better
I'm an corporate guy living in Bangalore and I've noticed I spend a lot of my free time mindlessly scrolling on my phone. I have a stack of books waiting to be read, but I struggle to find the motivation to pick them up. I'd love your suggestions on how to break this cycle and add more enriching activities into my daily routine. How do you find balance and make the most of your free time? Any book recommendations or tips for reducing screen time would be greatly appreciated!
How to reduce phone addiction:
1. Don’t keep phone near u while sleeping, use old alarm clock if needed.
2. Silent your app notifications.
3. IPhone has Do not disturb or Focus option wherein you will not get any notifications for a specified period of time (not sure if this is available on android phones).
4. Keep your home screen as ‘Lose No Time’ or some sort of quote which will remind you to not waste time scrolling.
5. Indulge in real life activities like meeting new ppl, reading books (keep books around places where you spend your time more so it acts as a cue to read), playing with your pet or anything you like as a hobby & automatically your interest on using phone will reduce.
6. Deactivate social media platforms for a while & see the difference
You’re welcome, these are my tried methods & I can say am over the addiction(used to doom scroll reels & my thumb had started aching). First thing to any change is reflecting on your current situation, so u r already one step ahead buddy.
I do have other rules like not seeing my phone immediately after waking up, I first do my physical activity, read 🗞️. Stopped taking phone to bathroom 😝.
All the best.

Don't watch reels first thing u wake up, it helps.
Try reading a few pages before bedtime. Helps to cut the habit of doom scrolling, and reading at night leads to good sleep, at least for me 😏
Some of the best read I had in the past are: Ikigai, Alchemist. And I have a bit interest in Hindu Mythology, so recently I started reading “Mrityunjay”, it’s related to Mahabharata.
