To all the people who have been laid off recently, don’t get disheartened. I have been laid off thrice and every time, I got a better offer and higher salary. If you have given your 100% and still end up getting laid off the fault is not on you. I now have started believing it happens for a greater good. Things to remember is always have a emergency fund, minimum 6 months of survival money, whichever city you are working/living on. This includes everything car emi if any, home loan emi if any, children education expenses if any, sum total of each and every expenses that you incur per month. This will give you financial cushion, you will not join the first company which rolls out an offer, you will have the leverage. If you have skills you will always find the next opportunity. Note: If you fall in the category of ppl who were working in deeply funded companies with exorbitantly insane salaries defying gravity, accept the reality of the market correction settle for less and cut down on lifestyle inflation. 4-5 years experience getting 80-90L in fixed was anyways not sustainable, it would have corrected sooner or later

Hi folks, I got laid off today from a YC-backed startup (W23) citing a shift in product focus. Was part of the core team since Oct '21, initially as an intern then later converted to FTE in '22. My contract was terminated last month citing restructuring. Honestly, I saw it coming but wasn't expecting it would hit like this I tried keeping my mind distracted, but now it has started to sink I live with parents and they aren't saying anything (they were feeding me before and still are, no change for them) I have had thoughts of ending all this, but do not have the courage. What if it ends halfway and I am redundant my whole life? Credit card bills are coming through now and being 42% of my ex-salary wasn't something I was prepared for. I thought I was a sane spender.

I am an ML engineer working in a startup. My current situation is horrible,I am constantly stressed about getting laid-off(My performance is good,I got promoted a month ago). I came to know that my company will probably lay people off this month,since they are unable to meet targets. Now,I got rejected in four interviews. There is a lot to learn and revise. Stats and probability. Machine learning algos. Deep learning architectures(got rejected because I was unable to explain the architecture of a complex model in detail). DSA(got rejected twice in this round). SQL (got rejected once since I was unable to solve the SQL problem). ML ops(some recruiters ask this as well). With the added pressure of getting laid off,my whole life is turned upside down.I am unable to focus. Every meeting or discussion I attend I feel like people are evaluating me.( This was not the case before). I don't know what to do. It would really help,if you guys share your interview experiences below.

Has anybody here experienced a layoff that has kept up your love for the company. I’ve had a bad one that was done in 30 mins with a meagre severance and assets/accesses removed in 10 mins with a legal binding about a non social media disclosure Not mentioning which company for obvious reasons.

Someone in ur team or someone u had good relationship (work wise) with gets laid off? Do u discontinue working as hard? Does ur team velocity decrease or increase as everyone does better for survival? Just wanna hear from folks who have gone through this and does employer not see any affect in work? (E.g. Twitter case)
