GrapeVine admin needs to put some filter on such repetitive “CTC Check” posts here. Every day some random 60 LPA earning guy comes and posts asking if the CTC is too low!! 🤷‍♂️

haha, i agree with that - and i'm well aware that i'm making more than the average WITCH guy. 
  
 my question is if this number is high or low for a *quant role*.  
  
 i do not have alumni/seniors to ask this (tier 3 college).

Ok, but posts like these are exactly like the LinkedIn cringe that this app is supposed to avoid and makes it’s selling point. If everybody earning 50 lakhs starts putting posts here daily, that will be same as the LinkedIn HR cringy posts, where HR attaches their beautiful  photograph, along with a long content post on managerial/philosophical issue, inviting discussion on the soulful topic, and readers go wow wow, in the comments section. Anyway, to each his own. Hope GrapeVine folks really looks at this aspect.

 i already had a decent cs + math background (RMO finalist), and was a hobbyist fundamentals and charts trader during COVID (took $3k to ~$75k). 
  
 only had one round of interview, brushed up on math and went on the call, got the offer 👍

haha, i know it is high by normal desi standards, but going by quant, it doesn't match up to the TR/JS numbers I've heard of.

This seems like a classic case of HR taking advantage of your situation in the current economy. Would suggest you to keep your head down and get through this tough phase in your career and hopefully make a switch a couple of years down the line

you look at data, and find "signals" to execute profitable trades on - small alphas that haven't been priced in by the market, create a strategy, and have it implemented to make the firm monies.

This entirely depends on the location, for wfh it seems fairly reasonable

It's good one considering the variable comp, given the current market situation you can go ahead with the offer. Later after a year you can explore similar role which will give you at least 30% hike

Am I being lowballed? My current CTC is 29.3L with 32% variable on top of it.
I tried negotiating but with no luck, RSU was increased from 40K to 50K as a result of that.

I've great EQ and IQ, and have always been the person to get the work done. Hold a TATA Value Award as well. Due to some unfortunate turn of events, I had to go through a bad phase and took time off for 2-3 months in early 2024. Now, I've got few offers but not happy with the offered CTC. Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out for advice on a challenging situation I'm facing regarding my employment bond. Here's what happened:

During my college placement, I was selected by a company for a developer role with a promised CTC of 3 LPA. Two days later, I was called to their office where the HR informed me that the CTC was "up to" 3 LPA, not exactly 3 LPA. Despite this, I accepted the offer and signed a bond for two years (including a six-month internship), also providing a cheque for 1 Lac as a security deposit.

Now, as my internship is nearing completion, there's a final review meeting scheduled where they will restructure the CTC. During my internship, I learned from existing employees that the company is notorious for poor salary growth and minimal hikes. I feel trapped by the "up to" scheme and am worried about my future with this company.

I'm seeking advice on how to navigate this situation and, if possible, save my 1 Lac cheque. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I have 10+ years of experience in PR and I’m currently working with an Indian startup. The startup is doing ok given the marker conditions (just ok) so I only got a 13% appraisal last year and my CTC is now 26L. Is this too low or is it okay?
